Ken moved to Steamboat in 1977 after graduating from Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania with a degree in Psychology. " I came out to Steamboat for my first Rocky Mountain ski vacation in 1976 and immediately knew that Steamboat was where I was meant to be". "I built my first spec house in 1979 while I was trying to determine how I would make a living here and becoming a realtor seemed like a natural step in that progression". Ken became a licensed agent in 1981 and went on to help establish Prudential Trimontane Real Estate before becoming an owner of RE/MAX Steamboat in 1994.

During the next 16 years while at RE/MAX, Ken and The Gold Team consisting of Lisa Ruffino and Valerie Lish were consistently one of the top producing "Teams" in the Mountain States Region as well as highly ranked in the entire RE/MAX International network. Over that time period, Ken has achieved the prestigious RE/MAX Hall of Fame award as well as the RE/MX Lifetime Achievement award and has been amongst the top 1% of all RE/MAX realtors for well over a decade.

Ken also became heavily involved in real estate development in the early 90's and went on to help develop and market many of Steamboat's most successful and well known projects including: Subdivisions: Hunters Ridge, Red Hawk Court, and Bear Run and involvement in the Catamount Ranch and Lake Catamount developments as well as Condominium and Townhome projects including: The Villas at Walton Creek, The Antlers at Christie Base, Quail Run Condominiums and Townhomes, The Enclave Townhomes, Elkhorn at Steamboat, Sunray Meadows Condominiums, and most recently Cimarron Townhomes as well as over a dozen of Steamboat's finest luxury spec homes located throughout the valley. Ken hopes to continue with several new projects that are currently in the planning stages when the time is right.

Since 1990 Ken has been one of the top producing agents and developers in Steamboat Springs and he and The Gold Team have marketed a sold more condominiums and town homes than any individual broker in Routt County. His expertise ranges from condominium sales and development, land and lot sales and development, home sales and home construction, to commercial real estate sales and development. In December of 2010 Ken and The Gold Team merged with Prudential Steamboat Realty in a move which he believes will give his team the resources, marketing presence and opportunity to continue on for many years and best serve the real estate needs of his existing client base and new clients to come.
